Conditions were against the popular, planned Wells to Blakeney row, but an excellent alternative took shape in the form of a morning expedition to Cley. On 7th July, a busy Sunday on the water, both skiffs set off at just after 9 am. Rowing in the sun was really enjoyable with plenty of banter. Crews were well looked after with Barrie and Victoria in safety attendance. Changing from oars to single paddles when the channel narrowed was an interesting experience and one which got the skiffs smoothly into a bustling Cley Harbour. The refreshment break at Cley was a very sociable time in close proximity to all types of craft.
The return journey was equally pleasurable with crew members in both skiffs swapping rowing and coxing duties. It was a well organised event in a perfect setting. Looking forward to more of the same. Many thanks to Victoria for organising the whole outing.
