Circumnavigating Barton Broad.

Richard A provided the following account of another rowing adventure. Many thanks to him:

“On Tuesday 19th October Tom Humphrey David Adrian and Richard on helm set out on a circumnavigation of Barton Broad. We immediately spotted an otter on the entrance to the broad and a stately looking grey heron. We continued to avoid the holiday cruiser traffic by hugging the broad edge disturbing swans and cormorants. The wind was blowing a slight hooley  but as we entered the tranquil Turkey Broad things quietened down as we clung to the banks in this shallow piece of water. We re entered  BB and rowed to Gaye’s Staithe where we did our turn  spotting another otter on the way or was it a water vole? We continued up the other bank of BB and took our coffee stop at The Norfolk Punt Club.

Circumnavigation complete we decided to row up the Ant and overtook two Cruisers in the process making sure we observed speed limits. We turned at Amanda Holdens former bolt hole and returned to Barton Turf. A good time was had by all.”
