A Peaceful Morning On The River Ant.

On Tuesday 25th January the conditions were cloudy but the water was without a ripple. Adrian M, Humphrey, David, Roland and Barry set off for How Hill keenly anticipating the row. On the outward journey, Adrian coxed, Barry stroked, Humphrey and David powered at three and two respectively whilst Roland rowed at bow. Two cruisers and a team of dredgers were encountered and tasteful banter was exchanged.

The coffee stop near How Hill was pleasant. as always; the trophies for the forthcoming Robin Combe Challenge were discussed – particularly the hip flask engraved with ”Watford Bridge.” A nearby photographer wanted to take a scenic picture, including “Bluejacket.” However, he didn’t want the crew in his photograph!! Oh well …

The journey back was really enjoyable and taken at a good pace. Roland coxed, Adrian stroked, Humphrey and David remained in the powerhouse and Barry rowed at bow. The Nancy Oldfield sailing boat on Barton Broad was a beautiful sight.

A great outing!
